Gremmels had previously worked at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she served as director of its Vogel Library for 13 years. She created the Wartburg information literacy program based on national standards that were being concurrently developed by ACRL. But Wartburg unveiled its initiative two years earlier, following five years of development.
