  • AASL Frances Henne Award
    The $1,250 award, sponsored by the Greenwood Publishing Group, is given to a school library media specialist with five or fewer years in the profession to attend an AASL conference or ALA Annual Conference for the first time.
  • AASL Research Grant
    The grant, up to $5,000, is awarded to conduct innovative research aimed at measuring and evaluating the impact of school library media programs on learning and education.
  • ACRL Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship
    This award fosters research in academic librarianship by encouraging and assisting doctoral students in the field with their dissertation research.
  • ACRL Samuel Lazerow Fellowship for Research in Collections and Technical Services in Academic and Research Libraries
    This award fosters advances in collections or technical services by providing fellowships to librarians for travel or writing in those fields. Research projects in the compilation of bibliographies will not be supported by this fellowship.
  • ACRL WESS Coutts Nijhoff International West European Specialist Study Grant
    This grant supports research pertaining to Western European studies, librarianship, or the book trade.
  • ALCTS First Step Award / Wiley Professional Development Grant
    The First Step Award is a grant that provides new serials librarians the opportunity to broaden their perspective and encourages professional development at ALA meetings and in ALCTS Serials Section activities. The $1,500 is donated by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
  • ALCTS Library Support Staff Travel Grant
    Not available for 2009. ALCTS seeks a sponsor for this program that provides travel grants for library support staff to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
  • ALSC Louise Seaman Bechtel Fellowship

    The Louise Seaman Bechtel Fellowship, administered by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), provides a $4,000 grant to a qualified children's librarian to spend a month or more reading and studying at the Baldwin Library of the George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida, Gainesville.

  • ALSC Penguin Young Readers Group Award
    This Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) award, made possible by an annual gift from Penguin Young Readers Group, provides a $600 stipend to up to four children's librarians to attend their first ALA Annual Conference.
  • ALTAFF Gale Outstanding Trustee Conference Grant
    The ALTA/Gale Outstanding Trustee Conference Grant enables public library trustees to attend the ALA Annual Conference. A grant of $750 each is warded annually to two public library trustees who have demonstrated qualitative interests and efforts in supportive service of the local public library.
  • Bogle Pratt International Library Travel Fund
    An award of $1,000 is given to an ALA personal member to attend their first international conference. An international conference may be defined as a conference sponsored by an international organization or a conference held in a country other than your home country.
  • Carnegie-Whitney Grant
    The Carnegie-Whitney Grant awards up to $5,000 for the preparation and publication of library resource guides. The grant is administered by ALA Publishing Services. Application deadline is November 3, 2008.
  • Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant
    The Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant is given annually to one or more librarians or library educators who will conduct innovative research that could lead to an improvement in services to any specified group(s) of people. The project should aim to answer a question that is of vital importance to the library community and the researchers should plan to provide documentation of the results of their work.
  • Diversity Research Grants
    The Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2000 annual award for original research and a $500 travel grant to attend and present at ALA Annual Conference. Three grants are awarded each year, the deadline to submit is April 30th.
  • EBSCO Conference Sponsorship
    This annual award consisting of $1,000 for actual reimbursed expenses is designed to allow librarians to attend the ALA's Annual Conference.Donated by EBSCO Subscription Services. Deadline is December 1.
  • FAFLRT Adelaide Del Frate Conference Sponsorship Award
    The Federal Librarians Adelaide Del Frate Conference Sponsorship Award is given to a library school student who has an interest in working in a Federal Library.
  • FTRF Gordon M. Conable Conference Scholarship
    The Gordon M. Conable Conference Scholarship is a grant for library school students and new professionals to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
  • GODORT NewsBank/Readex Catharine J. Reynolds Research Grant
    The NewsBank/Readex/GODORT/ALA Catharine J. Reynolds Award provides funding for research in the field of documents librarianship, or in a related area that would benefit the individual's performance as a documents librarian or make a contribution to the field.
  • Guadalajara Intenational Book Fair Free Pass Program
    ALA and the Guadalajara International Book Fair are partnering for the ninth year to provide support for ALA members to attend the 21st Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) from November 29 - December 3, 2008.
  • Hong Kong Book Fair Free Pass Program for Librarians
    The Hong Kong Book Fair is pleased to offer the 'Free Pass Program for Librarians' for its 20th Annual Fair. The Fair will provide selected librarians from the U.S. and Canada who collect Chinese language materials 4 nights of hotel  accommodation, free book fair registration, and invitation to cocktail reception.
  • LLAMA Diana V. Braddom FRFDS Scholarship
    The goals of the scholarship program are to offer librarians and/or staff members from all types of libraries an opportunity to learn new fundraising skills enabling them to increase funding to their libraries from public, private and corporate sources.
  • LLAMA YBP Student Writing and Development Award
    The LLAMA/YBP Student Writing and Development Award is given to honor the best article on a topic in the area of library administration and management written by a student enrolled in a library and information studies graduate program. The purpose of this award is to enhance the professional development of students of library and information studies through publication of the winning article in Library Administration & Management, the LLAMA magazine, and enabling the award recipient to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
  • LRRT Ingenta Research Award
    The Ingenta Research Award is given annually by the Library Research Round Table of the American Library Association to support research projects about acquisition, use, and preservation of digital information.
  • LRRT Jesse H. Shera Award for the Support of Dissertation Research
    The Jesse H Shera Award for the Support of Dissertation Research is given to provide recognition and monetary support for dissertation research employing exemplary research design and methods.
  • NMRT 3M Professional Development Grant
    The purpose of the 3M Professional Development Grant is to encourage professional development and participation by new ALA members in national ALA and NMRT activities.
  • NMRT Marshall Cavendish Essay Contest
    The NMRT Exhibitor Contact and Relations Committee is sponsoring the Marshall Cavendish Essay Contest. Winners will receive tickets to the Newbery Caldecott Wilder Banquet at ALA Annual Conference.
  • NMRT Shirley Olofson Memorial Award
    The Shirley Olofson Memorial Award is intended to help defray costs to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
  • PLA DEMCO New Leaders Travel Grant

    The purpose of these grants is to enhance the professional development and improve the expertise of public librarians new to the field by making possible their attendance at major professional development activities. Presented by PLA and DEMCO.

  • RUSA BRASS Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel Award
    Established in 1992 and sponsored by Gale Cengage Learning, this $1,000 cash award is given to a student enrolled in an ALA accredited master's degree program to fund travel to and attendance at the ALA Annual Conference and a one-year membership in the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of RUSA. Applicants should have demonstrated interest in a career as a business reference librarian, and a potential to be a leader in the profession as demonstrated by activities that may include (but are not limited to) coursework, internships, jobs, special projects, and publications.
  • YALSA Baker & Taylor Conference Grants
    The Baker & Taylor/YALSA Conference grants award two YALSA members $1,000 each to attend the Annual Conference for the first time. One grant is given to a school library media specialist and the other is given to a public librarian.
