  • AASL Collaborative School Library Media Award
    The $2,500 award, sponsored by Tandem Library Books, recognizes and hopes to encourage collaboration and partnerships between school library media specialists and teachers in meeting educational goals outlined in Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning.
  • AASL Distinguished School Administrators Award
    The $2,000 award, donated by SIRS Mandarin, is given to a school administrator for developing an exemplary school library media program and making an outstanding and sustained contribution to advancing the role of the school library media center.
  • AASL Distinguished Service Award
    The $3,000 award, donated by Baker & Taylor, recognizes a librarian who has made an outstanding contribution to school librarianship and school library development.
  • AASL Information Technology Pathfinder Award
    The award, donated by the Follett Software Company, recognizes library media specialists for innovative approaches to information technology in the school library media center. The award, $1,000 to the school library media specialist and $500 to the library, is given in two categories--elementary (K-6) and secondary (7-12).
  • AASL National School Library Media Program of the Year Award
    The award, $10,000 ($30,000 total) in two categories donated by Follett Library Resources, recognizes 1 school district and 2 single schools for exemplary school library media programs that are fully integrated into the school's curriculum.
  • AASL President's Crystal Apple Award
    The Crystal Apple is given at the discretion of the AASL President to an individual or group who has had significant impact on school libraries and students.
  • ALSC Candlewick Press Light the Way Grant
    The Light the Way Grant offers support for libraries conducting exemplary service to underserved populations.
  • ALSC Distinguished Service Award

    This award honors an individual member of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) who has made significant contributions to and an impact on, library service to children and ALSC.

  • ALSC Professional Awards
    Links to professional awards available to ALSC members including: Bookapalooza, Bechtel, BWI, Distinguished Service Award, Hayes, and Penguin.
  • ALSC Tandem Library Books Literature Program Award
    Provides a $1,000 grant for ALA Annual Conference attendance to an ALSC member who has developed an outstanding literature program for children. Sponsored by Sagebrush Corporation, and administered by the Association for Library Service to Children. Deadline for applications: December 1.
  • Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award for Exemplary Humanities Programming
    The Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award is an annual award to a school library that has conducted an exemplary program or program series in the humanities during the prior school year. It consists of (1) a $4,000 cash award; (2) a plaque; and (3) the promotion of the winner as a model program for other school libraries.
  • Scholastic Library Publishing Award
    An annual award consisting of $1,000 and a 24k gold-framed citation presented to a librarian whose "unusual contribution to the stimulation and guidance of reading by children and young people" exemplifies outstanding achievement in the profession. (Donated by Scholastic Library Publishing.) Deadline is February 1. (Formerly the Grolier Award.)
  • Sullivan Award for Public Library Administrators Supporting Services to Children Award
    An annual award consisting of a commemorative gift and a 24k gold-framed citation presented to an individual who has shown exceptional understanding and support of public library service to children while having general management/supervisory/ administrative responsibility that has included public library service to children in its scope. Donated by Peggy Sullivan. Deadline is February 1.

  • YALSA Great Books Giveaway
    Each year the YALSA office receives more than 1,200 newly published children's, young adult and adult books, audiobooks, and other materials. YALSA and the cooperating publishers are offering one year's worth of review materials as a contribution to a library in need.
  • YALSA Greenwood Publishing Group Service to Young Adults Achievement Award
    The YALSA/Greenwood Publishing Group Service to Young Adults Achievement Award recognizes the national contributions of an association member who has demonstrated unique and sustained devotion in two or more of the following areas to young adult services: promoting literature and/or programming for young adults, conducting and publishing research about young adults, mentoring other professionals in the field, or for notable efforts in the work of the Young Adult Library Services Association. The purpose of the cash award will be to enable the recipient to further his or her good work in the field of young adult librarianship. Applications will be accepted during odd years only.
  • YALSA MAE Award for Best Literature Program for Teens

    This award is designed to honor a member of the Young Adult Library Services Association who has developed an outstanding reading or literature program for young adults. The winner will receive $500, as will the winner's library.
