1. Signature in support of May 4, 2007 letter circulated by members of the Senate requesting that the leaders of the Committee on Appropriation's Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education include $226.18 million for the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and $100 million for the Improving Literacy Through School Libraries program in the 2008 funding bill.
 
2. S 609 - Co-sponsorship of this bill
supports the creation of a permanent exemption for the E-rate and other Universal Service Fund (USF) programs from having to comply with government accounting requirements known as the Anti-Deficiency Act.
 
3. S 717 - Co-sponsorship of the Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2007 which supports repeals of Real ID Act of 2005 and establishes a process for developing standards for state-issued driver's licenses and personal identification cards accepted by federal agencies.
 
4. S 886 - Co-sponsorship of the Presidential Records Act Amendments of 2007 which supports the establishment of procedures to be followed by the National Archives when considering Presidents' claims of constitutionally based privilege against disclosure of Presidential records.
 
5. S 1121 - Co-sponsorship of the LIBRARIAN Act which supports the authorization for cancellation of Perkins Loans for students who perform public service as librarians in low-income schools and public libraries.
 
6. S 1699 - Co-sponsorship of the SKILLs Act which supports the requirement of state and local educational agencies to employ state-certified school library media specialists in every school as a condition for receiving funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.
 
7. S 2088 - Co-sponsorship of the National Security Letters (NSL) Reform Act of 2007 which supports the establishment of limitations on the use of NSL issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to wiretap telecommunication service providers for the production of specified records and information about customers.
 
8. S 2488 - Co-sponsorship of the OPEN Government Act which supports the revision of requirements for federal agency disclosures of information requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in order to promote accessibility, accountability, and openness in Government.
